IOS and Bluetooth (Selfie stick)

After the recent apple iPhone update; my existing selfie stick would no longer work. So...I went out and bought another one and the same problem happens - they do pair but will not connect; well they do for a short while but then the connection no longer works.

I have tested both sticks on other devices such as my iPads and they work.

Does anyone have the same problem with bluetooth and sticks and if so any help would be greatly appreciated.
